Gluten And Dairy Free Soda Bread Recipe

This is a brilliant, and easy to make Soda bread recipe for the whole family to enjoy, even if you’re not glute and dairy free. You can make this with dairy based yoghurt as well as it was intended, but for those who are dairy free just change the yoghurt to a non-dairy based one with probiotic spores added to it.

Ingredients:

  • 400g of Doves Farm white bread flour

  • 2tsp of bicarbonate of soda

  • 1tsp of sea salt, ideally finely crushed to avoid lumps

  • 2tsp of sugar

  • 1 egg whisked to mix the yolk and white

  • 200ml of yoghurt of choice

  • 100ml of milk, I use Plenish Almond milk

  • 1tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • Extra flour for dusting and forming the dough

Method:

Pop the oven on at 180 degrees.

First mix your yoghurt with the lemon juice and milk and then leave it to sit to one side.

In a seperate bowl mix the flour, salt, bicarbonate of soda, and sugar together thoroughly.

Mix the yoghurt mix into the flour mix and then add the whisked egg, and stir it until it is mixed and all combined into a slightly sticky dough. If you need to add a little more flour then you can.

Transfer the mix onto a slightly floured board or clean surface and roll around, but don’t knead, until it is a large ball.

Place on a slightly greased tray, or line a tray with greaseproof paper, make a little X in the top and then pop in the oven to bake for 25-35 minutes, until the top is golden and the bottom sounds hollow when tapped.
